When closed, the top and bottom flaps meet (or slightly overlap) in the center, creating a simple, flat closure that requires tape or stapling to secure.

RSC Construction Geometry

The RSC's defining characteristic is its slotted corners — the gaps between adjacent flaps that allow the flaps to fold flat without interfering with each other. These slots create the rectangular gaps visible at each corner of the closed RSC box. The flap depth is designed to be exactly half the box width, so that opposite flaps meet precisely in the center when closed. When flap depth is less than half width, a gap remains in the center; when greater than half width, flaps overlap — the designer specifies flap depth for the desired closure behavior.
