The Electrostatic Flocking Process

Electrostatic flocking applies the short fibers to an adhesive-coated surface using an electric field that orients the fibers perpendicular to the surface and drives them into the adhesive at high density. The electric field's perpendicular orientation of fibers is what creates velvet's characteristic pile depth and softness -- fibers standing upright at uniform height create the distributed cushioned surface that feels like fabric rather than the flat hardness of a coated surface. The adhesive cures with the fibers embedded, creating a permanent fiber coating that resists normal handling forces without fiber loss.

Flocking fibers are available in virtually any color -- Pantone-matched colors for brand identity coordination are standard practice. Common jewelry box interior colors include black (the luxury standard), white and cream (for bridal and feminine luxury positioning), navy (for heritage and formal positioning), and burgundy (for wine and premium gift positioning). Fiber materials include rayon (the most common -- good color range, affordable), nylon (higher durability, slightly stiffer pile), and natural silk fiber (ultra-premium -- the most refined tactile quality at highest cost).
