Handle Construction Types

Die-cut card handles are the simplest configuration — the handle opening is cut directly through the top panel, and the consumer grips the card material at the handle cutout. This construction requires the top panel to be thick enough (typically 24pt minimum) to support the carried load without tearing at the handle cutout edges. Reinforced handle configurations add a separate handle reinforcement strip glued behind the die-cut opening, distributing the grip load over a larger area and enabling lighter board weights in the body.
